Andrew Whitcomb

Andrew Whitcomb has spent more than a decade as a design researcher involved in industrial design, user experience, and innovation projects. He holds a PhD in Design from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, where he completed his dissertation focusing on how designers communicate their ethical experiences of collaborating. His current research investigates the structure and practice of design education, particularly the relation among community issues, learner experiences, and institutional models. From 2012 to 2015, he was a Marie Curie Research Fellow with DESMA, an EU-funded network aimed at bridging academia and industry in the field of design management. As a researcher in professional practice, Andrew worked with companies such as Philips and McKinsey Design, supporting problem-framing in industries ranging from healthcare to convenience retail.
