This June, PhD Candidate Yumeng Xie started her annual internship as a User Experience Researcher at J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is a Fortune 500 company and one of the largest transportation logistics companies in North America. It specializes in technology-driven freight shipping for large and small businesses. Yumeng works with the shared services team to support internal users and make their daily work easier. During the internship, she is passionate to utilize design research knowledge and methods (e.g. observation, interview, survey, workshop) to improve users' experience and make business impacts in the real world. Referring to Yumeng’s Ph.D. research topic - how do professional designers collaborate with others (e.g. stakeholders, users) and deal with collaboration issues - she is getting a deeper understanding of it from this internship by collaborating and communicating with the product teams/stakeholders/users during her daily work. Yumeng truly believes in the magic power of research and she can’t wait to hone her research skills to tackle more research challenges.
